Elliwiny: I remember the purse X-ray taking FOREVER. I actually did a little research into what those machines see, and put the disassembled gun in there, mixed with makeup tubes, but also not being fully satisfied with how the effect turned out. I think my goal was clarity – that if you were sharp, or looked back on this page in the future, you could make out the smuggled gun! In reality I’m not sure that quite came across that way, but it was a learning experience to be sure.
Breaking down a tool into not-so-easily-recogonized parts is a good start. Mixing them with near-look-alikes helps. Even better is distracted technicians bored with their own security theater.
