Book 1 – Ch.2 – Pg.8
Elliwiny: Janitor is sort of touching on the big theme here in Opportunities. It’s not so much about happiness as it is about fulfillment, and what that means. I don’t think the story really has a clear-cut answer, either. What Vigi is doing is important, but she’s going to get sucked further into a world of espionage and danger. We never really know the full scope of Pursuit and Seti’s criminal activities until the very end, and it’s only because Vigi uses it to try to appeal to Kyan’s humanity. Vigi’s the only cast member with a functioning moral compass, but I think Janitor’s right to ask her to check in with herself, too… And at the end, she does. But I’ll talk more about that later!
Meanwhile, we learn that Janitor does not care about others personal space, and is in too much of a hurry to wait for the next elevator. The clock is running on his break time!
