Elliwiny: So one of the big comic no-nos is this concept called tangents – If you’re unfamiliar, a tangent is when a line butts up against another line in such a way that it visually connects the two shapes together. Tangents can happen across panels if you’re not careful, and you can accidentally wind up with the illusion of, say, an arm sprouting out of someone’s neck, or something like that. But fuck that, I don’t believe in comic no-nos. If you know the rules you can break them to serve you. If you look carefully, on this and the previous page, the smoke tangents with itself across panels. Possibly across pages? This is the second page in what’s meant to be a spread, but I’m not sure if I managed that trick or not. Anyways, I think it adds a fluid chaos to this scene.
